Tweeting

1237136704799

Ok - haven't blogged in a great while yet again, but I've been lured into using twitter.  If you feel the urge you can follow me at http://www.twitter.com/Balir

It is an interesting peek into other people's lives, and the sense of it being a popularity contest almost prevents me from using it.  But, if anything it's a quick five minute ritual that does give me a sense of some connection to a larger community.

And out of left field, life has been a cycle of getting up, working, gaming and sleeping.

Finally got over that fracking flu, it took us all about a month to totally get it out of our systems.

Yeah, OK, I know

1219129637882 I said in my previous entry that I should blog more and immediately I stopped. Gotta love how my brain works.  I kept thinking, no one cares about what I'm typing... totally forgot that I like looking over my previous entries and if for nothing else to help me remember things.  Ha! I'm a fool. :P

Anyhow - six month catchup - Rachel in high school, same crap as last year.  I'm playing Warhammer Online and loving it, as well as City of Villains and loving it too.  Christmas is around the corner and really can't wait for it to be over and done with.  The whole camera thing with Chuck has died.  No big.

Grandma Ruby fell, and took a header on the stove on her way to the floor.  Spent time over there today having lunch and vacuuming, etc.  Of course she complained the whole time.  How did I not see this when I was a little kid?  Well, I guess she was just Grandma then, not another mortal like the rest of us.

Work is moving us back to accruing PTO instead of the old bucket idea, thank goodness.  Might start using time off again.

Uhm... looking forward to the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO.

That's about it for now.  If I think of more that's happened other than sleep, eat, work in the last six months I'll pop it on here.

...like chopping my desk by 2 inches to fit my chair better, my best bud possibly getting a job working with another of my buds, Gina getting Employee of the Month last month, all kinds of things.  Damn, not even 40 and my memory is going.

Hmmm

Mexico AccidentWhat to blog about when you don't have anything to blog about?  It doesn't seem to stop millions of other people.  I guess I just need to start typing whatever pops into my head.  How delightful for you. Hahah!

Rachel is officially out of school for this year, and starts HIGH SCHOOL in September.  Egads.  She is four years away from being tried as an adult. :P

Gina has her first review at work tomorrow, and I'm sure it will be nothing but positive.  She is saying they might want to promote her or put her in a different role since she has proven herself trustworthy and capable.  Good for Gina!  I hope she gets some satisfaction out of doing a good job. :)

Chuck seems pretty serious about this whole camera thing.  We went to Fry's and he picked up a shotgun microphone for his HD handheld camera, and we played around with it.  It's pretty cool, it synchs up with the zoom on the camera.  A definite improvement over the microphone that is embedded within the camera itself.

Sorry for the tasteless picture.  I know people got hurt and maybe someone died, but the caption just made me laugh.  I know, I'm sick and need help. :)

Been a while...

1soldier I know, too long.  Truth is I've been stressed out over finances, and I wish I could get over not blogging when I don't feel like it.  I think it's important - not for you, but for me.  Like I said in my first post since this is supposed to be a therapeutic / record for my bad memory, I need to include the low points, not just the high.  So, apologies to you, and to myself for not blogging in a long while.

I've really gotten into CoV as well.  I have gotten over trying to play alone and met some great people.  I've joined a group of villains called Radioactive Magma and group a lot with them, as well as the people from Infinite Melting Pot.  RM is a younger crowd which makes me feel old (lol) and IMP are almost all older than me which makes me feel young! Ha!

I've also learned that if I don't stick to one character and just play for fun, I will lose myself in the game just like every other MMO I have ever played.  I have to learn to not play as hard as I can and just enjoy it.  So does the leader of RM, Frozen. :P

Later today heading to lunch with Mom, Sis and everyone for Rachel and Gina's birthdays.   Gina gave Rachel her Zen for her birthday. Awwwww. :)  Gina wasn't getting much use out of it.  Rachel exploded in a delighted squeal. :D

Rachel's Recital

DSC00297 Saturday was insane.  We got up at 6, and we were back by 9. All freakin' day.  We went to Diablo Valley College for Rachel's band performance, as well as what seemed like 10 other Jr. High bands, and both me and Gina had to chaperone 7 kids each.  Rachel is the clarinet player under the speaker in the middle of the pic there. The festival went until 1pm, and then we went to 6 flags.  So we had to hike into the park from the farthest parking lot, and spent pretty much the rest of the day walking around.  I got a blister on my middle toe of my right foot - right between the top of my arch and the highest 'knuckle' of the toe.. don't know how else to describe it.. but what the hell.  How did I get a blister there of all places?!  Anyhow, got some good pictures and video of the recital, but none at 6 flags really because - well, once we hit the park the kids all ran amok, and only had to check in with us once before we rounded everyone up to leave.

DSC00295I got to ride Medusa, that was freakin' sweet. :D  Other than that, walked around a lot.  I'm still tired.  Also found this ancient picture in the band room at the school from '87.  I should be in that pic, but I can't tell which one is me.  It's a little blurry as well since it was high up on the wall, I had to step back and while my camera is pretty good, it's not a professional camera, and I'm not a professional photographer. :)
